Episode 72: Iztok Sumatic – Olympic / World Cup Judge

“I was born in 1976 in Maribor, Slovenia. I fell in love with skateboarding in 1989 after seeing movie Trashin’. Luckily my aunt went to USA that year and brought me a Valterra skateboard. Since then skateboarding defined my life and my character. It gave me bunch of good friends at home and around the world. It gave me Fugazi, Beastie Boys, Bad Religion, Primus and plenty more. Since there was no way I could become a pro I started earning a buck by selling skate and snowboard stuff, which my friend (and the best Slovenian skater) Marko Jazbinsek was smuggling from Italy. When the wild era was over I became a skateshop manager in my hometown for almost 3 years. After that I worked as a Snowboard coach for 18 years. Nowadays I still enjoy skating, snowboarding, and working in the action sports on various fields such as emceeing, organizing, judging, riding, filming, taking pictures, athlete management, partying… you name it I got it… I am like Macgyver dude ;)” – Iztok
